Fear of Thunderstorms
It
used to be that the fear of thunderstorms required the therapist and the
patient to tackle the storm with [what]. With therapy using Virtual Reality
Exposure help is found in the therapist's office, eliminating the need for
travel to [what]or try to juggle schedules and
meet prior to a storm.
Wearing
a headset, you are allowed to enter a computer generated [what- are you in
a car or house or just outside]during a virtual
thunderstorm. The feel and sounds of a thunderstorm will seem real without
you ever leaving the therapist's office. You will experience all aspects of
the impending storm gradually. Taking plenty of time and practicing
techniques you have learned for anxiety management, you are led slowly
through [what]---------------Next you work through
-------------.
At
every step of the virtual thunderstorm, the therapist can see and hear what
you are experiencing. The therapist has control over the exposure, the
thunderstorm and the length of the therapy session.
